ARTISTIC POLE – KWAZULU NATAL PROVINCIALS 2018

Artistic Pole is one of the newer competitive events added by the International Pole Sports Federation. Artistic Pole was first launched in July 2017 at the World Pole Sports Championships in Holland. For the current competition season, 2017/2018, Artistic Pole will form part of IPSF endorsed competitions at a national level for the first time.

Artistic Pole will run alongside the Pole Sport Provincial events. All athletes wishing to explore their creative side are invited to take part!

“Artistic Pole can be considered to be the softer more artistically inclined sibling of Pole Sports, encourages creativity and emboldens freedom of expression with more emphasis on artistic interpretation and is judged by the newly created Freestyle Pole Series Rules, which does not include a Code of Points, but relies more heavily on art, choreography and musicality”. IPSF 2017.

The IPSF Artistic system is broken down into four parts, namely Choreography, Degree of difficulty, Execution and Presentation. Performers will be judged in all four sections. The final score is a combination of all 4 parts and the performer with the highest score will be the winner. The minimum overall score a performer can be awarded is zero and the highest score is 100. Up to 40 points are awarded for difficulty and execution, with up to 60 points awarded to performance. There are no compulsory elements, and higher points are awarded for performance skills over technical skills. Extensive breakdowns of the above mentioned elements are provided in the ‘Artistic Pole Championships Scoring System’ document which is available for download under the DOWNLOADS tab.

There are NO compulsory move requirements in Artistic Pole!

Pole athletes of all levels and ages will now have the chance to perform for a small, friendly and supportive audience. All athletes taking part in the provincial will be judged by IPSF certified judges. The judges will either be present at the event, or judge the routines by video after the event. Athletes will receive feedback on their performance, enabling them to develop their skills and to help them to prepare for larger scale competitions. All athletes will receive a medal and a certificate for their participation in Provincial events.

this event is a qualifier for the National Artistic Pole Competition to be held in 2019.
